What Is UFE?
UFE is a minimally invasive procedure that targets fibroids by cutting off their blood supply. During the procedure, a small catheter is placed into the uterine arteries through a pinhole-sized incision in the wrist or groin. Tiny particles are injected to block blood flow to the fibroids, causing them to shrink over time.
This method treats all fibroids at once—regardless of size or location—and leaves the uterus intact.
UFE may be the right choice if you:
- Have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and suffer from:
- Heavy, prolonged menstrual bleeding
- Pelvic pain or pressure
- Urinary frequency or bloating
- Want to avoid surgery or preserve your uterus
- Have not responded well to medication
- Non-surgical with no general anesthesia
- Go home the same day

What to Expect After the Procedure
You may feel cramping, fatigue, or mild flu-like symptoms for a few days. Most patients return to work and normal life within 5–7 days. Symptom improvement often begins within the first cycle after treatment, with continued fibroid shrinkage over several months.
