Hemorrhoid Embolization
Non-Surgical Relief from Chronic Internal Hemorrhoids
If you’ve been living with internal hemorrhoids that cause persistent bleeding or discomfort—even after trying diet changes, medications, or in-office treatments like banding—hemorrhoid embolization may be a life-changing alternative to surgery.
At Image Guided Therapy we offer hemorrhoid embolization, a minimally invasive outpatient procedure right here in our clinic. This innovative approach targets the source of the problem: excessive blood flow to the hemorrhoidal tissue.
What Is Hemorrhoid Embolization?
Hemorrhoid embolization (also known as superior rectal artery embolization) involves using real-time imaging where Dr. Nutting guides the catheter into the arteries supplying blood to the hemorrhoids and injects small embolic particles to reduce the blood flow.
As a result, the hemorrhoids shrink and symptoms improve—without cutting, sutures, or general anesthesia.
Who Is a Candidate?
This procedure is ideal for:
Patients with internal hemorrhoids (Grade I–III) that bleed or prolapse.
Those who haven’t found relief with conservative treatments.
Individuals seeking a non-surgical or less painful option.
Patients with other health conditions who want to avoid anesthesia or a long recovery.
- No incisions or stitches
- Minimal discomfort compared to surgical options
- Same-day outpatient treatment
- Quick return to normal activity
- Excellent symptom control for bleeding hemorrhoids
Patients go home the same day and can return to light activities within 24–48 hours. You may experience mild pelvic pressure or fatigue, but this usually resolves quickly. Studies show significant reduction in bleeding and symptom recurrence.
