About Dr. Nutting

Dr. Nutting completed his radiology training at Chicago Osteopathic Medical School and his fellowship in interventional radiology at RUSH Presbyterian Medical Center in 1998. He is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR), an honor awarded to fewer than 10 percent of physicians in the field. He is also a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Western Angiographic and Interventional Society.

Beyond his own practice, Dr. Nutting lectures internationally, publishes peer-reviewed medical research, and trains physicians across the United States in the procedures he specializes in. That combination of clinical volume, teaching, and research is a large part of what makes him a recognized leader in interventional radiology in the Rocky Mountain region.

Experience That Sets Him Apart

In embolization, experience is not a formality. These procedures demand refined technical skill and high procedural volume, and outcomes are closely tied to how many times a physician has performed them. Dr. Nutting’s record speaks to that depth:

Prostate artery embolization (PAE)

more than 1,500 procedures performed. He trains other physicians in PAE and learned the procedure from some of the specialists who pioneered it internationally.

Liver embolization

more than 10,000 procedures over his career. In 2003, he became the first physician in the United States to deliver SIRSpheres radioactive microspheres.

Knee embolization (GAE)

a principal investigator in a worldwide clinical trial advancing this minimally invasive treatment for arthritic knee pain.

Fellow of the Society

of Interventional Radiology

a distinction held by fewer than 10 percent of physicians in his specialty.

Procedures Dr. Nutting Performs

Why Experience Matters in Embolization

If you are considering any embolization procedure, the single most important question to ask any physician is how many of that specific procedure they have personally performed, along with their outcomes and complication rates. Specialized training and repetition genuinely matter here. With thousands of procedures completed across his career, Dr. Nutting brings a level of experience that is difficult to match, which is why patients travel from across the country to see him.
