Any Size. Real Relief. The Truth About PAE and Prostate Volume

Many men with BPH are told that prostate size limits their treatment options especially when the
gland gets large, or have been told they’re prostate isn’t large enough for modern procedures.
But recent evidence shows that’s simply not true for Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE).

PAE Works Across Sizes

A 2025 study published in the Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine compared outcomes of PAE in men with medium-sized prostates (51–80 mL) and large prostates (>80 mL). It found that both groups experienced statistically significant improvements in prostatevolume, symptom scores (IPSS), quality of life, and post-void residual urine at 1, 3, and 6 months after PAE. The percentage of prostate shrinkage was similar in both groups at six months (over 50% reduction), and no major complications were recorded. Importantly, the researchers concluded that prostate volume should not be used to exclude patients from PAE.

In other words: PAE is effective whether your prostate is mildly, moderately, or significantly enlarged.

What This Means for You

Prostate size is easy to measure, but according to this study, it shouldn’t be a barrier to PAE.

Whether your prostate is:

●Slightly enlarged
●Moderately enlarged
●Or well above 80 mL in volume

PAE has shown real clinical benefits in terms of symptom relief and gland shrinkage.

The Bottom Line

If you’re considering treatment options for BPH, prostate size alone shouldn’t disqualify you from PAE and the evidence supports its effectiveness across a wide range of gland sizes. Whether your prostate is mildly enlarged, moderately enlarged, or well over 80 mL, research shows that men across size groups experience meaningful symptom relief, improved quality of life, and significant prostate shrinkage after PAE. We’re committed to helping you find the right solution for your symptoms.

Schedule a consultation to learn whether PAE may be your next step.
